For more than 35 years, Barbara Puffer, MA, ABC, has been helping organizations tell their stories effectively.  She has worked with the corporate and not-for-profit sectors, and earned more than 100 awards and accolades for her work.  She has had a stellar non-profit leadership career, and she continues to teach undergraduate students.

Barbara began her professional career as a journalist while a junior journalism major at the University of Bridgeport, where she won the Dow Jones Outstanding Journalism Graduate Award. She worked for two major Connecticut daily newspapers: The Hartford Times and the New Haven Register.

After moving to the corporate side in 1974, she progressed through many organizational communications roles, often including media relations, and earned a Master's degree in corporate and political communication from Fairfield University. Her corporate employers included Union Trust (now a Wells Fargo bank), Southern New England Telephone (now AT& T), Phoenix Insurance, and the international Barnes Group Inc.

Puffer Public Relations Strategies is a virtual consultancy, located in Southwest Florida and Connecticut. To assist her media training clients, Barbara brings decades of communications experience to bear in blending in-person exercises with the online program available at AtEaseWithTheMedia.com. In theory, she can design a different package for each client.

"Because the program uses online training as its base, the lesson plan is adaptable," Barbara explains.  "Not only can I fit it to the client's needs, it enables me to apply 35 years of insight.  The result is a complete package for clients.”
